BURO SOCIAL DINNER X HUGO BOSS
A night for all things personalized
The newly reconstructed Mill hosted our first event party of the year - #BUROSOCIAL – an initiative hosted by local digital news source Buro 24/7 to bring Singaporeans from various industries together in hopes of encouraging conversation over a shared meal, sparking creativity and inspiring collaborations. Their mission was intrinsically aligned to The Mill’s tenet to create a sense of community through housing creatives dedicated to their craft. When we heard what #BUROSOCIAL was about, we knew we found the perfect partner-in-crime to christen The Mill with its first ever event.
The #BUROSOCIAL dinner party was held in partnership with HUGO BOSS and its BOSS made to measure service, centered around the theme of personalization. The German luxury fashion house allows complete customization from fit to delivery – suit fabric, buttons, shirts, shoes, five-fold ties and pocket squares will always be unique to your desired lengths and widths, colors and textures, monograms and signatures.
Everything in the event was personalized from the selection of wine pairings by Equatorial Wines, a delectable menu by Lavish Catering to flower decorations by Floral Magic.
Buro 24/7 selected 5 distinguished men from different industries to be their hosts for the evening: Bill Cain (owner of Hat of Cain), Joshua Schwartz (founder of SJS Group), Norman Hartono (marketing communications manager at Tung Lok Group), Marc Nicholson (founder of 1880), and Roy Teo (founder of The Mill). Each of the hosts brought friends from different industries who were open to connecting with complete strangers over a shared meal and learning from one another’s experiences.
Activities of the night consisted of a pocket square folding tutorial by Buro 24/7’s skillful editor in chief, Norman Tan followed with a pocket square challenge, where our hosts had one minute to assemble an impeccable pocket square. The winner, Bill Cain earned a Hugo Boss made-to-measure tie experience!
Our guests chatted the night away about all things personalized. Designers shared their love for functionality without sacrificing aesthetics, artists conversed about how artwork is a marriage of numerous things that inspire them while connoisseurs and enthusiasts expressed their appreciation of a made-to-measure suit. Each guest walked away with personalized gifts from Hugo Boss – their name engraved on a fragrance and an invitation to have their initials stitched onto hand-rolled silk pocket squares.
#BUROSOCIAL marked the first and very successful event held at The Mill. After speaking to individuals from all walks of life, we are deeply inspired and committed to hosting many more events in the upcoming year. Stay tuned to witness how people celebrate creativity, passion and hardwork, all at The Mill.
